Philanthropy and community engagement can be practiced like yoga – with forethought, planning and setting intentions

In yoga as you start your practice, the instructor asks you to “set an intention” and keep it in mind throughout the yoga session. Often, I set my intention on something physical like enjoying a nice stretch or opening my shoulders. Recently in yoga class, my intention was about opening my mind and building even more awareness around how I interact with others and how I engage in the community. I’m not sure if this is what the yogis practice, but it was my mindset for yoga that day. Philanthropy and community engagement can be practiced like yoga - with forethought, planning and setting intentions. As we embark on a new year, have you given any thought to your short-term or long-term plans for charitable giving? Did you accomplish your goals from last year? Are you interested in exploring a new opportunity to give back and get engaged? Actively making a plan and creating a giving vehicle to suit your needs is not only a “positive” IS IT TIME TO INVEST IN THE COMMUNITY? DO YOU KNOW OF OTHERS WHO WANT TO ENGAGE AND MAKE AN IMPACT?
